The Nancy Luton Printmaking Student Education Fund Application

In 2020 we established an education fund to support students who are interested in learning about and enhancing their  skills in printmaking. Nancy Luton, a Houston artist who donated her time, energy, and money to printmaking efforts  at PrintMatters, Burning Bones Press, and the University of Houston, was one of our original members and we are  proud to name this fund in her honor.

AWARDS AND ELIGIBILITY

What if a class has not been scheduled at the time the application is due?

We realize that many schedules may not be formalized by the application due date. If this is the case, please provide as much  information as possible to the best of your knowledge. You will have one year to request and use the funds you have been awarded.

What if the workshop/class I received money for is not offered during that year?

If there is another workshop/class that fits the goals you have stated on your application, let us know.

What if the scheduled workshop/class is more money than I asked for?

We will not be able to give you more than you requested.

What if the scheduled workshop/class is less money than I asked for?

No funds will be disbursed until the class is scheduled. If it is less than you requested, that is the amount you will receive.

Will I be given the money before or after I sign up for the workshop?

We understand that every situation is unique. We will be happy to discuss individual needs and accommodate them as best we can. You must turn in all receipts to PrintMatters.

What if the class is cancelled?

You will need to return the award.

Can I ask for money to buy supplies for the workshop or class?

Yes. If you need help purchasing printmaking supplies for a class, you may apply your award to those items. Just list the supplies  and their costs on your application.

Can I request travel funds for a workshop or conference?

Yes.

Why do I have to supply digital images of my work? Will this be a deciding factor in the evaluation process?

The images are to demonstrate a commitment to broadening your printmaking education and skills. Your application will not be decided on the “quality” of your work, simply on your commitment to learning and growing.
