Aldo Fabian Ramos

Aldo Fabian Ramos is a Houston based interdisciplinary artist who works primarily in painting and printmaking. Born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, a town located along the Southwestern Texas border, Ramos infuses his printmaking practice with non-objective painting using vibrant color and texture paired with dynamic patterns and motifs. He describes his practice as introspective and emotional in nature, and his work often re-imagines regional landscapes using various depictions of native flora and fauna. Furthermore, his work draws inspiration from and seeks to highlight subliminal narratives and hidden histories in reference to the complex nuances of border culture and politics in relation to his bi-national upbringing and close ties to his homelands. In 2016, Ramos curated and exhibited his work in a landmark exhibition at Presa House Gallery in San Antonio, TX titled “Borderwavve” which highlighted a dialogue speaking to the style and connection of four US/ Mexico border-town contemporary abstract artists. Ramos has exhibited his work across Texas in institutions and galleries including the Glassell School of Art, the Art Museum of South Texas, K Space Contemporary, Concrete Gallery, Presa House Gallery, and St. Edward’s University. His work is included in private collections in Texas, Mexico, California, New York, and the Mid-West.
